The government has published its response and an open letter to victims and survivors, following the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman’s special investigation into historic abuse at Medomsley Detention Centre.
Immediate action to clamp down on mistaken releases from prisons and restore public confidence in the criminal justice system has been announced by the Deputy Prime Minister today (Tuesday 11 November).
